Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Donald Trump’s Health and Human Services Secretary, is supporting a ban on pharmaceutical advertising from television. The U.S. is currently one of two countries that allow pharmaceutical advertising on television, with New Zealand being the other country still allowing this.

How informative are drug advertisements online? Are they meant to inform or are they meant to manipulate/propagandize to prospective buyers? Nearly everyone but those making money off of pharmaceutical sales seems to know the clear answer to these questions.

Healthcare decisions should be made with a physician or healthcare provider within an exam room and not through pharmaceutical propaganda. Ethical healthcare professionals examine, inform, and discuss options with patients. Unfortunately, as we learned with the Covid 19 “pandemic”, many healthcare professionals appear to be wholly owned agents of Big Pharma.

The go-to answer should not be drugs for every issue. Patients need to, with the advice of their healthcare provider, seek out the least harmful and most impactful solution to healthcare issues first, and then consider drugs if it makes sense.

Big Pharma spends billions on advertising because it is highly profitable for them. Many studies indicate that drug advertisement return on investment can range from 100-500%. The projected spend by pharmaceutical companies in 2025 is estimated to be over $5 billion. It’s the largest drugs, such as Skyrizi, Jardiance, and Ozempic, which tend to account for the majority of pharmaceutical ad spending.

RFK Jr.’s plan will likely face scrutiny from many paid off politicians in Washington DC. One comparable situation from the past is President Nixon banning cigarette ads from consumers in 1970. The mouthpieces of pharmaceutical companies, such as The Wall Street Journal, have labeled RFK Jr.’s plan as a personal vendetta but this does not square with the history. In 2015 the American Medical Association called for a ban on pharmaceutical advertisements. A STAT/Harvard poll found that 57% of Americans support banning TV drug ads. RFJ Jr. stands with the majority of Americans, so are we all radical?

The First Amendment is manipulatively utilized - even though its intent was for citizens and the press and NOT for corrupt enormous business enterprises - as a reason why this can’t be done. There is a Central Hudson test, which allows for government regulation if there is a substantial interest. Protecting human health from pharmaceutical ads that are oftentimes deceptive and self-serving meets this test in NoJabDocs view.

We can all expect to see Big Pharma and its puppets of every stripe from politicians, to “physicians” (rent-a-physician), to the media, to paid-off academia, to “experts” whose studies are funded by Big Pharma to oppose this measure. Who cares? These are mindless and soulless drones who have blood on their hands. They have no credibility and they should not be listened to by any serious person or entity.

The time to ban Big Pharma advertising is now. RFK Jr. is leading the way to MAHA by doing what the American People support.
